STRUCTURAL DESIGN

The structural design process of a project basically starts with selecting the type of structure, rather concrete, steel structure or even demountable systems, and continues in three phases, Planning, Design, and Construction. Some information such as Site condition, the loads acting on the structure and location of building is necessary in order to proceed with the design of a structure. Other than those major items above, data regarding the Zones for lateral loads such as earthquake or wind zone is mandatory in order to achieve the best design. In planning phase we consider the various facts could affect the layout and size of structural elements. The decision is made based on the architectural layouts approved by clients, function of building, cost of materials available in that region and budget of project. In design phase, structural design details of every building member are determined including sub and super structures. Therefore, material specifications, dimension of members and connection details are determined for authorities’ approvals. Construction stage is mostly involved with the procurement of materials and equipment, manpower and construction works.
